Frequently asked questions
How much is $60,000 a year after taxes in Oregon?+
For a single filer paid every two weeks with no pre-tax deductions, about $45,557 a year, or $1,752.18 per paycheck. That's after $5,020 federal income tax, $4,590 Social Security and Medicare and $4,413 Oregon income tax, plus $360 Paid Leave Oregon and $60 OR statewide transit tax: an effective rate of 24.1%.
How much is $20 an hour after taxes in Oregon?+
At 40 hours a week that's $41,600 a year before tax and about $32,511 after, or $1,250.42 per two-week paycheck for a single filer with no deductions.
What is the Oregon state income tax rate?+
For 2026, single filers pay 4.75% – 9.9% depending on income. Oregon lets you subtract federal income tax paid, capped at $8,750 for 2026 ($4,375 MFS) and phased down to $0 as federal AGI rises from $125k to $145k (single/MFS) or $250k to $290k (joint/HoH); this capped subtraction is not modelled. The $263 per-person exemption credit is lost above $100k federal AGI (single/MFS) or $200k (joint/HoH) - not modelled. HoH and qualifying surviving spouse use the joint rate chart. The statewide transit tax (0.1% of wages, withheld by employers) and local taxes (Portland Metro SHS / Multnomah PFA) are not included.
What else is taken out of a Oregon paycheck?+
Paid Leave Oregon (60% of 1% up to $184,500 — Oregon Employment Dept.); OR statewide transit tax (0.1%, no cap — Oregon DOR). The calculator includes these; untick “Include state disability / paid-leave contributions” to leave them out.
Is this the same as my employer's payroll calculation?+
It uses the IRS Publication 15-T percentage method that payroll software uses for federal withholding, and Oregon's 2026 tax rules (checked 2026-10-07). Your employer may round each step or use the state's own withholding tables, so expect small differences.
Is anything I enter saved or sent?+
No. The calculation runs in your browser; nothing is stored or uploaded.
