Only “Save template” stores these details on this device. Tax rules vary; this is a generic invoice, not a jurisdiction-specific tax invoice.
You can add up to 100 line items. Quantities and prices can't be negative, so record a credit as a discount. The tax rate is one percentage between 0 and 100 for the whole invoice, which suits a single sales tax or VAT rate.
There are two ways to get a PDF. Download PDF builds a plain text-only PDF in your browser, one line per item. Print / save PDF prints just the invoice preview — choose "Save as PDF" as the printer — and keeps the table layout and any script your browser can display.
A freelance designer bills two lines in USD, gives a $100.00 discount and charges 8.25% sales tax:
| Description | Qty | Rate | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Website design (hours) | 12 | $85.00 | $1,020.00 |
| Hosting setup | 1 | $150.00 | $150.00 |
| Subtotal | $1,170.00 | ||
| Discount | −$100.00 | ||
| Tax (8.25% of $1,070.00) | $88.28 | ||
| Total due | $1,158.28 | ||
Tax is charged on $1,070.00, not the full $1,170.00, because the discount is applied first. If your client pays sales tax on the undiscounted price, enter 0 as the discount and show the discount as a note instead.
A unique invoice number, the date you issue it, your business name and address, the customer's name and address, a clear description of each product or service, quantities and prices, the total due and the due date. Number invoices in sequence (INV-001, INV-002…) and never reuse a number, even for a cancelled invoice.
GOV.UK also asks for the date the goods or services were supplied. Sole traders give their name, any business name and an address for legal documents; limited companies give their full registered name. A VAT-registered business must add its VAT number, the tax point, the VAT rate and amount, and the total excluding VAT. Put the VAT number and supply date in the business details or notes.
There's no federal invoice format. Sales tax is set by each state and often by cities and counties, and whether a service is taxable varies from state to state, so look up your rate before filling in the tax percent. The IRS expects you to keep invoices and receipts that support the income on your return. State payment terms such as "Net 30" and any late fee in the notes.
Only "Save template" stores these details on this device. Tax rules vary; this is a generic invoice, not a jurisdiction-specific tax invoice. To price your work first, the Freelance Rate Calculator turns an income target into an hourly rate, and the Sales Tax Calculator checks a tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive price.

Enter your business name and address, the client's details, an invoice number, the issue date and due date, then add a line for each product or service with its quantity and unit price. Add a discount and tax rate if they apply, check the preview, and click Download PDF or Print / save PDF.
After. The discount is a fixed amount taken off the subtotal, and the tax percent is charged on the discounted amount. On a $1,170.00 subtotal with a $100.00 discount and 8.25% tax, the tax is $88.28 and the total $1,158.28. Charging tax before the discount would have added $96.53 of tax instead.
Not directly. The discount field takes a fixed amount and there is one tax rate for the whole invoice. For a 10% discount, enter 10% of the subtotal as the amount. If items carry different tax rates, list the tax as its own line item with the rate in the description and set the tax percent to 0.
USD, GBP, EUR, INR, PKR, AUD, CAD and AED. The preview shows the currency symbol; the downloaded PDF shows the three-letter currency code next to the total. Change the currency before you start — amounts aren't converted.
The PDF uses a standard Latin font, so characters outside it — Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Chinese, some symbols and emoji — can stop the export. Use Print / save PDF instead: your browser renders any script and lets you save the preview as a PDF. Print also keeps the table layout, while the quick PDF lists each line as text.
At minimum: a unique invoice number, the issue date, your name and address, the customer's name and address, a description of what you supplied, quantities and prices, the total due and when it's due. A UK VAT-registered business must also show its VAT number, the VAT rate and the VAT amount; add the number to your business details or notes.
It's a generic invoice. Whether it meets the rules for a tax invoice depends on where you and your customer are and whether you're registered for VAT, GST or sales tax. The section above lists the usual UK and US requirements; check with your tax authority or accountant for your situation.
Use a unique, sequential number for every invoice and never reuse one, even for a cancelled invoice. The generator starts at INV-001 but doesn't count up for you — type the next number each time. Formats like INV-2026-014 or a client prefix such as ACME-007 make invoices easy to find later. A saved template keeps the last number you used, so update it before sending.
Not at the moment — the invoice is text only, with your business name and address at the top. If you need a logo, print the invoice to PDF and add it with a PDF editor, or put your brand name in the business name field.
Payment is due 30 days after the invoice date; Net 15 and Net 60 work the same way. Set the issue date, then pick the due date 30 days later in the Due date field, and state the terms in Notes — for example "Payment terms: Net 30" along with how to pay, such as your bank details or a payment link.
Nothing is uploaded: the preview and PDF are made in your browser. Details are kept only if you click Save template on this device, which stores one template in this browser's local storage until you click Delete saved template or clear your site data.
