How the PDF is rebuilt

Thumbnails are drawn with PDF.js. When you download, pdf-lib copies each kept page from your original into a new document in the order you chose, adding any rotation. Page sizes are unchanged. Bookmarks, form fields and some document-level features may not carry over.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reorder PDF pages?+

Open the PDF, then drag pages into the order you want — or focus a page and press Alt + arrow keys. Download the PDF when you're done.

How do I delete or extract pages?+

Select pages by clicking them (or pressing Space), then use Delete to remove them or “Extract selected” to save just those pages as a new PDF. Undo is always available while you work.

Does it keep text selectable?+

Yes. Pages are copied into the new file as they are — text, links on the page and vector graphics stay the same. Nothing is turned into an image.

Can I edit a password-protected PDF?+

No. Encrypted PDFs can't be rewritten here. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF (tools.northlane.live/unlock-pdf/).

Will a digital signature still be valid?+

No. Any change to a signed PDF invalidates its signature. Keep the original if the signature matters.

Is deleting a page the same as redacting it?+

No. The deleted pages aren't in the saved file, but this tool isn't a redaction or sanitization tool and doesn't check for hidden content elsewhere in the document.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?+

No. The PDF is opened with pdf-lib and PDF.js in your browser, the thumbnails are drawn on your device, and the new file is saved straight to your computer or phone. Nothing is sent to a server.

How do I rotate pages in a PDF?+

Select the pages and press the rotate left or right button, or focus a page and press R (Shift + R turns it the other way). Pages turn in 90° steps. The turn is saved as the page's rotation setting, so the content isn't redrawn and nothing loses quality.

Can I combine pages from several PDFs?+

Not here — the organizer works on one PDF at a time. Use Merge PDF to join files and pick pages from each, then open the merged file here to fine-tune the order and rotation.

Can I undo a mistake?+

Yes. Press Undo or Ctrl + Z (⌘ + Z on a Mac) to step back through your last 50 moves, rotations and deletions. Your original file is never changed, so you can always open it again and start over.

What do the numbers under each thumbnail mean?+

The bold number is the page's position in the new order, “was 3” shows where a moved page was in the original, and the size is in PDF points (1/72 inch) — for example 595×842 pt for A4 and 612×792 pt for US Letter. A turned page shows its width and height swapped.
