Private by design
Costs, prices and client details are commercially sensitive, so these tools run in your browser. Your figures and files, including the bank statements you open in LedgerLift, are processed on your device and not uploaded. There's no account to create. The timesheet, business card maker and invoice generator can remember a draft, and they keep it in your browser's local storage, not on our servers.
Results are estimates from the numbers you enter. Marketplace fees and carrier rates change, so check current rates with the provider before you set prices.
Margin, markup and contribution in one minute
Gross margin is profit as a share of the selling price: a $50 item that costs $30 has a 40% margin. Markup is profit as a share of cost: the same item has a 66.7% markup. Mixing them up is the most common pricing mistake. A "40% markup" on a $30 cost gives a $42 price, not $50.
Contribution is what each sale leaves after all variable costs, including payment fees, shipping and packaging. That is the number that pays your rent and software, and it drives break-even. Our guide on how to calculate profit margin works through a full example with fees.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between profit margin and markup?+
Margin divides profit by the selling price; markup divides profit by the cost. Buying at $30 and selling at $50 is a 40% margin and a 66.7% markup. Margin can never reach 100%, but markup can be any size.
How do I calculate my break-even point?+
Divide your fixed costs for the period by the contribution per unit (price minus variable costs per unit), then round up. With $2,000 of monthly fixed costs and $13.20 contribution per sale, you need 152 sales a month. The Break-Even Calculator does this and shows a chart.
Do these tools upload my data?+
No. The calculators, invoice generator, barcode and card makers and LedgerLift all run in your browser, and your numbers and files stay on your device.
Can I calculate margins for many products at once?+
Yes. The Profit Margin Calculator accepts a CSV of products and costs and calculates margin and markup for every row.
How should I set a freelance hourly rate?+
Start from the income you want, add business costs, taxes and unpaid time off, then divide by the hours you can actually bill, which is usually well under 40 a week. The Freelance Rate Calculator walks through each step.
What is dimensional weight?+
Carriers charge for whichever is greater: the parcel's actual weight or its volume divided by a carrier divisor. A large, light box can cost more to ship than its weight suggests. The Shipping Cost Estimator works out the billable weight.
Are the Etsy fees up to date?+
The Etsy Fee Calculator uses Etsy's published fee schedule by country, but Etsy can change its fees. Check Etsy's own fees page if a figure looks different from your statement.
